[SOLVED] Game Crashes

Postby Kashada » 03 October 2013, 19:21

Just bought this game from Steam.
When I press play the game goes black with brown cursor then drops to Windows error message:

Mars: War Logs has stopped working

I know I meet minimum requirements:
Laptop:

Win 7
8 Gig Ram

Processor Information: (compressed information)
Vendor: GenuineIntel
Speed: 2128 Mhz
4 logical processors
2 physical processors
HyperThreading: Supported

Video Card:
Driver: Intel(R) HD Graphics
---Current Max graphics to 2 gig---
---(I have no issues with most new games can run skyrim at nearly max graphics)---

Latest DirectX 11

Now one thing that caught my eye when I attempted to start the game, its the fact that usually steam does a 3 step preparation task before the games I buy launch, this one did not, it immediately launched then crashed.

Appreciate any help I can get.

6. Select the application MarsWarLogs and click the Open button.
7. Click the button Apply and close the window Catalyst Control Center then run the game.

4. Click the Add button under '1. Select a program to customize:'.
5. Open the folder Mars War Logs.
6. The default path is Local Disk (C:), folder Program Files or Program Files (x86), Steam, SteamApps and Common.

My Video card is not either one of those you listed.

Laptop Video card is: Intel(R) HD Graphics

I reinstalled the game and tried with 'best settings' on my graphics options panel, however still crashes at start up. I also noticed that the program does not create a file in the documents folder like most games do for its graphics setting files and such.

As I said I have been able to play a ton of new games, in fact I have been able to run all of the games I have bought since I have gotten this computer. This is the only one I have ever had any problems even starting up.

A. Please check that Mars War Logs is correctly installed:

1. Run Steam and click Library.
2. Right click Mars: War Logs and click Properties.
3. Click the tab Local Files then click the button Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

B. Please configure the game in order to run it in administrator mode:

1. Open the Local Disk (C:) then the folder Program Files or Program Files (x86).
2. Open the folder Steam folder then the folder Steamapps.
3. Open the folder Common then the folder Mars War Logs.
4. Right click on the application MarsWarLogs.exe and click Properties.
5. Click the tab Compatibility and check 'Run this program as an administrator' under Privilege Level.
6. Click the button OK and run the game.

C. Otherwise, what is your antivirus?

I searched the forums before I even posted here, and found both those recommendations and tried them with no luck. Steam verified that the files were in order, and admin settings were already in effect, but rechecked them to make sure, yet same crash.

Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials
Antivirus has never interfered with any game I installed.

As I said in my previous posts I noticed that the game never created any warlogs folder in documents menu, and steam never attempted to do a first time setup when first launched, just start up and then crash. Sorry I cannot give any other information on my end.

Does the game create a crash log that I might be able to paste here?

So when you right click on the Desktop background, you do not have AMD Catalyst Control Center nor NVIDIA Control Panel?

No.
As I said it is Intel HD Graphics.

Really I cannot get much more specific.

Here this is easier than typing out information and going around in circles:

This is the first generation of INTEL HD graphics controller.
Maybe this is not enough to run this game.
The minimum required for Mars War Logs is an AMD RADEON HD or a NVIDIA GEFORCE graphics controller.

Otherwise, please update the drivers of the INTEL HD graphics controller:

1. Click http://downloadmirror.intel.com/22521/a ... 152258.exe
2. Save the file Win7Vista_64_152258.exe on the hard disk.
3. Once the download done, run Win7Vista_64_152258.exe.
